I am HER

Herstory, album released 27 July 2018

Early in 2018 long-time friend Julie Riley asked us to design promo and first album artwork for her new band I am HER. Julie was part of 90s band Rosa Mota, recording two albums on Mute Records, and more recently was making music as one half of Crown Estate. With I am HER she is joined by Jeff Townsin on drums (formally of 90s bands Submarine and Sophia). Their sound is alt/punk with a little bit of pop, influenced by PJ Harvey, Sonic Youth, Patti Smith and Taylor Swift. Their first album, Herstory, was met with critical acclaim, noted for its ‘dark but heartfelt stories of love, life and humanity.’ 

Julie came to us with a photograph of an arrangement of the letters H, E and R, and a curled wave, that had been cut from coloured granite and concrete. She had a particular image of what she wanted in her mind and we helped that come to life, drawing it as a logomark and adding the hand written text elements and colours.
